RE: Home Dump Station

I would not worry about chemicals is your home septic system. My septic system is 20 years old and I regularly use it to empty the tanks on my RV. I also use plenty of bleach and other household cleaners that end up in the septic system. In 20 years, not once has the tank been pumped and not once has the system backed up. Liquid is you septic systems best freind.

RE: What is up with US Customs?

If you waited outside while they inspected you camper, how do you know what they were looking for? You don't! It is called border security and is one of the constitutionally mandated functions of our government. As someone that does not travel outside of the US, I Appreciate their efforts.

RE: Do you lock your doors when you leave your rv when at a park

Yes, we always lock the door. There are scumbags everywere that will rob you blind if you give them a chance. I even lock the RV up when parked in my driveway. You can not trust any one, any place, these days. Lowlifes are everywere.

RE: What are the advantages of Apple over PC?

In the world of graphic design, Mac has a definitive advantage. The designers at work claim the platform is more stable and less susceptible to outside intrusion from viruses and the like. The PCs used in our studio seem to crash and suffer from memory problems that do not affect the Macs. While they are more expensive, things seem to even out as the Macs do not require replacement or upgrades as often as the PCs do.

RE: Yikes! Did I just eat Kentucky Wild Boar bacon?!!!!

Ferral hogs in Texas are every were. There is no 'season' just shoot 'em when you see 'em. They taste very good roasted over an open fire or smoked in the pit. I don't know if you can sell it though!

RE: Fuel Costs may not be Out of Line!

Great rational. We have more money, so it should cost more...
I wonder what oil company sponsered that report. :R
Not an oil company sponsored report. The two authors write for the CATO Institute. The CATO Institute is a libertarian organization that tries to help the average person understand public policy.

Have you looked at the Ford units being sold by Cruise America? I believe they are based on the F350 pickup truck.

RE: You'll never guess what I saw !!

These poo posts always crack me up. So many people are paranoid about poo. On that Dirty Jobs show, the dude rode with a poop truck for a day. At the end of the day they dumped the poop truck at the county facility. It was just a giant concrete pad. When the 'liquid' dried, the county scooped up the 'dirt' and sold it as organic fertilizer. I guess someone should have called hazmat or the FBI or someone that gives a damn.

RE: carry the dog on the flatbed while towing? VIDEO ADDED

I think most of you are still missing the point. In TEXAS, a working dog is JUST a tool. It is like a wrench or hammer. Sometimes they get lost and you have to fetch another. These dogs don't take baths they get dipped. You wont find them with bows in their hair sleeping in fancy beds. They stay outside and are expected to earn their keep. That is how it is and no one from California or Maryland is going to change that.

RE: New law in California - text messaging while driving

This is not a personal freedom issue; it is a public safety issue. Texting or talking on the phone while operating any type of vehicle should be against the law. If convicted of violating such law, offender should have drivers license revoked for 12 months.

RE: If bail out passes and works

I bet there's a higher level of intellectualism on this forum than we currently have in D.C.
Now that is a real stretch. Some of the folks on this forum could not empty a bucket with instructions printed on the bottom!

RE: Rockdale TX RV Park

I have never stayed there, just driven past it a bunch of times. It is about a mile from US 77. If you want something right on US 77, there is a place in Lexington, Sonny's RV Park, about 20 miles south, that is right off the highway.

RE: How slow is unsafe?

don't use Texas as an example please. those fools drive down the shoulder. they have come up behind me and acted like they expected me to move my rig onto the shoulder so they could pass easier. yep, I'm going to move over $100 K of stuff onto the shoulder so their rusted out pickup truck could get by easier. I don't think so.

RE: thousand trails

I have never been 'stuck with a no service whatsoever site' at TT, besides the economy is so bad all of the campgrounds are empty any way. The most important piece of information about TT is; do not listen to anyone on this forum that is not a current member of TT. For they do not know what they are talking about.

RE: More Arizona speed camera's

A lot of local governments have figured out that it is easy to generate extra income through partnerships with private businesses. This comes in the form of toll roads, red light cameras and mass transit systems. Here in Central Texas, the local government, through a thing called CAMPO came up with a toll road plan that had a foreign company, build, maintain and administrate a needed road improvement. The company built the toll roads on their own dime, in record time and then charges a toll to every driver. The free roads were not improved and are not maintained. This lack of maintenance coerces drivers into using the maintained toll road. So many people use the toll road, it is paying for itself in record time and the foreign company is making a ton of money. Of course, CAMPO gets a small percentage of the tolls, but they are a government agency and use the money for further traffic studies. The system worked out so well that the city of Austin is setting up the same kind of scam with a red light camera company. This company sets up and maintains the cameras as well as collects the fines. They then pay the city a small percentage of the take. Our local mass transit system is run the same way, by a subcontractor that is paid with sales tax revenue. Sorry for the long post, but this kind of creative funding is here to stay. We might as well get used to it or try to enact legislation that prohibits such schemes.
